Baltimore Orioles tie Tampa Bay Rays 3-3 - MLB Update
In a game that included a terrible incident of Nolan Reimold falling on ground after being struck badly on head by Tampa Bay Rays' starting pitcher Alex Cobb, ends on a tie with Baltimore Orioles and Rays both scoring three runs at Charlotte Sports Park
in Port Charlotte, Florida on March 9, 2012 during their Spring Training Grapefruit clash.
From the outset, runs were not coming and it took three innings for a run to be scored. As soon as the Orioles managed a score in the fourth and just before they could think on building their lead, Rays had gone one run ahead by the end of the inning.
Climax of play became palpable in the seventh inning when both side surged neck-to-neck only adding one run to see the outcome tied until the last inning. Even the tenth inning proved a dead rubber as no result was forthcoming.
Rays’ starting pitcher Alex Cobb was sorrowful of seeing Nolan Reimold go down from his pitch in the first inning. "It's probably the worst feeling you can have as a pitcher, seeing something like that and being the cause of a guy taking a step back in his
career possibly," Cobb said. "It's just something you never want to see on the baseball field, and when you're the cause of it, it's a feeling you can't describe."
Making his first Spring Training appearance Cobb went through three innings without conceding any score while being struck two hits and awarding two walks. Likely parallel to Cobb from Orioles’ pitching department is Jake Arrieta who while also performing
a starting pitcher role spent two scoreless innings, gave one walk and struck-out one.
"That's really the best I've felt, not only this year, spring training, but I think in my entire professional career altogether," Arrieta said.
As left fielder Reimold languishes at Peace River Hospital, his immediate recuperation is something the Orioles are desperately looking forward to.
Meanwhile Arrieta’s great performance for the Orioles shows promise about his season prospects as with more consistency he can easily claim a role in the opening day roster.
The fact Orioles hold a commendable standing on table currently enjoying a .6 PCT, they will be hoping to replicate their performance in the regular season.
