Baltimore Orioles tie with Philadelphia Phillies 3-3 – MLB Spring Training

Baltimore Orioles tied with Philadelphia Phillies 3-3 at the Bright House Networks in Clearwater, Florida on Sunday, March 25 in their Grapefruit League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session.
Veteran Jim Thome hit a two run double for the Phillies in a tense tie against the Orioles.
"It felt fun to be out there. The adrenaline was pretty awesome," a smiling Thome said. "I haven't had adrenaline like that in quite a while."
Thome hasn’t played at MLB regularly. His last MLB appearance was recorded in 2007 against Chicago White Sox. Having signed a $1.25 million one year deal with the Phillies, he will be looking to secure a permanent place on the big league roster.
Phillies’ pitcher Roy Halladay gave another terrific performance as he struck out nine and walked two in just over six innings. Allowing just two runs and seven hits on his 89 throws, he certainly made the most of available opportunities.
"I feel good," he said. "You get close to 100 pitches, but you want to get up and down as many times as you can. That can be the hardest part once the season starts, sitting down and then going back out there for an inning. So getting to be able to go out
there for a seventh inning and get close to 90 pitches, I felt like it was very productive."
The Orioles will be very pleased with the way they handled pressure in a nail biting contest. Buck Showalter and his men are considered as one of the weakest teams in American League East Division.
Their last World Series triumph was recorded in 1983. It will be interesting to see if they can surprise everyone by making it to the playoffs this season.  After making a poor start to their Spring Training campaign, the Orioles are finally showing some
signs of improvement.
The Phillies, on the other hand, will be disappointed with the fact they were unable to cross the winning line. After making a strong start to the contest, the Phillies were looking to secure yet another spring victory but that didn’t turn out to be the
case as the Orioles fought back to tie the game.
