Baltimore Orioles to interview Boston Red Sox Allard Baird for GM – MLB News

Baltimore Orioles is facing a tough time in the Majors, first they had a horrible season and then their search for general manager went into refusals, but the club is making strong efforts to bring a competent candidate as their GM.
After the Los Angeles Dodgers’ DeJon Watson and Toronto Blue Jays’ Tony LaCava turned down the offers, the Orioles now have contacted the Boston Red Sox vice president of player personnel and pro scouting Allard Baird, reported a major news source in the
Baltimore.
The reports say that the Orioles front office has considered Allard Baird as possible candidate for the position. The management will now interview the dominant looking Baird in the coming days, according to reports.
Baird is an experienced person, who has been a part of the Kansas City Royals as a General Manager from 2000 to 2006. Since 2006, Baird is now serving the Boston Red Sox and his experience as a GM is being considered the main reason for his selection to
interview. Although in his six year career as GM with the Kansas City Royals, the club did not make any remarkable victory. The Orioles still believe the veteran manager will prove valuable in Baltimore.
Next few days will be challenging for Baird, because if he does not take the Orioles offer, he will become one of the closest advisers to the Red Sox current GM Ben Cherington. Since Cherington joined the club, the Red Sox have not given a chance to any
of their player to move forward.
The sources have also reported that the former Red Sox GM Dan Duquette is also part of the list. Duquette has over 25 years of experience of sitting in the front offices in Major League Baseball. Duquette served the Boston Red Sox from 1994 to 2002.
By looking at Dequette’s honours, it can easily be judged why the Orioles are interested in the 53-year-old ex-manager, who has left the MLB since 2002. Orioles are taking positive measures to stand along the top clubs in the American League East. Their
struggle will continue until they find a suitable candidate to serve the club for next season.
