Baltimore Ravens 100 per cent on players fitness to go into AFC game vs New England Patriots – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens coach, John Harbaugh, said on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, that his team was hundred per cent in the health and fitness of their players before going into their American Football Conference (AFC) against the New England Patriots in Foxoborough,
Sunday, January 15, 2012.
Harbaugh’s comments on the players’ fitness came in the context of an ankle injury that their safety, Ed Reed, had suffered in the game against the Houston Texans at M&T Bank Stadium on past Sunday, January 12, 2012.
Reed was helped to the sideline after he rolled over his ankle in the game and did not show up for rest of the game. There were concerns that his injury might be the season-threatening.
An X-ray scans were performed soon after the game and results proved negative, confirming that the player will be ready and fit for their next game.
This has now been confirmed by the coach, who said that Reed along with other players with injury scares will be available for the next weekend’s game.
"Ed looks like he’s all right with the ankle," Harbaugh said. "Everything’s come up OK as far as the X-rays."
"They fought through theirs," the coach said of other players’ fitness. "They were right-to-the-last-minute decisions, and they came out of them OK."
Other players who were doubtful with their respective injuries and now are healthy and available on the weekend include Brendon Ayanbadejo with sprained right guardriceps and Jameel McClain with sprained left knee.
The Ravens are probably the only team on the National Football League (NFL) to have maintained a healthy and fit squad throughout the regular season and since.
None of their notable players have so far been ruled out of the side for any serious injury. The safety, Reed, has only been the player so far with an injury scare.
According to their coach’s statement he too has now recovered and will be available for their game against the Patriots.
Harbaugh’s side his heading to Foxborough for their road game of the American Football Conference (AFC) championship against their hosts, the New England Patriots.
A win in the game will help them claim the Championship and through to the Super Bowl event in the Indianapolis, which is a very possibility given that all of their players are pulled up together with no issues of health and fitness on their mind.
The good news on the Reed’s fitness will boost their chances for the win. The Ravens defence is central to their wins and the safety plays a significant role along with their linebacker, Ray Lewis.
Both players have helped the team to secure a win in their playoff game against the Houston Texans in the past week. They now face a strong offensive line-up of the Patriots.
