Baltimore Ravens’ Jacoby Jones’ signing seen as gamble over fumbles, drop passes – NFL News
Former Houston Texans’ receiver, Jacoby Jones’ problem of fumbles and drop passes has remained persistent at the Baltimore Ravens offseason workout activity and apparently the team is not happy over the way their two-month signing has
turned out to be so far.
Texans released Jones due to the same issues and are relying on two rookie wide receivers instead. The player was unable to overcome his lapses and after securing some time with the team, he was finally let go.
Ravens signed him off the Texans waiver in the hopes he will rectify his problem and improve his form overall. He has proved them wrong. As of the latest, the player’s problems have refused to go away. He is becoming more sort of frustration
for the managers.
Despite the fact that the player has been praised for his talent and speed, he is unable to capitalise on his plus points so far. Apparently, he is baffled to tackle the problem. It is even more difficult for the coaches who have consistently
been working with him to overcome the drop passes issue.
If Jones manages to rectify the problems, he has the potential of becoming one of the leading receivers in the league. His place in the team will be certain and permanent at the backup positions along with Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin.
Commenting on these developments, some commentators see Ravens gambling on the player. They see his continues difficulties to catch and grip the ball making his $7 million, two-year deal a mistake by the team.
The situation is apparently not pleasing one for quarterback, Joe Flacco. Jones along with the above mentioned receivers will be at the receiving end of Flacco’s throws.
The QB is thrilled to perform better this year under supervision of the new coach, Jim Caldwell, and if Jones continues with his fumbles, Ravens should think of some urgent solution or alternative.
Almost the entire group of the team’s officials are concerned about the player’s loss of the grip on the ball but they so far lack an answer about how to tackle him.
