Baltimore Ravens LB Terrell Suggs out again with claim of this season’s return – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens’ linebacker, Terrell Suggs, is back in the news with hopes of return from a torn Achilles tendon some time in the 2012 National Football League (NFL) season but has refused to give a timeline for it.
Earlier, the player had set himself the month of November as maximum deadline for his comeback given, as he said, his injury is partly torn tendon, which could make his quicker recovery and rehab possible.
Ravens’ coach, John Harbaugh, is among many other officials and commentators who doubt the return happening by November.
John said it is natural for players carrying such injuries to speculate ambitious timelines for their comeback and questioned Terrell’s ability to rejoin the squad by his set deadline.
To back his stance, the coach based his argument on two points. First, the injuries like Suggs’ carry many risks and setbacks in the process of recovery and rehab. Second, the player’s return claim is without an opinion from his doctor.
Some other analysts echoed similar doubtful views about the player’s ability to stage a comeback by November.
The player showed resistance and refused to buy into these views, saying he will prove his doubters wrong. A couple of days after his self-assuring statement, he came off the crutches, feeling almost there.
However, in the next couple of days, he succumbed to the independent views, admitting for the first time that his return might not happen by November.
After silence of a few days, he is now back again with a claim he is still hopeful of his comeback some time this season but refused to give timetable for it.
He said:
"I'm very optimistic (but) I'm not going to give no timetable (like) I'm going to be ready by this point (or) I'm going to be ready by that point (or) I'm going to be ready to play in this game. No, I'm not going to say that. But I will
tell you that I will be playing in 2012."
Still, there is no confirmation if he has received any encouraging feedback from his doctor or is out again with his own assessments.
