Baltimore Ravens’ LB Terrell Suggs steps out of boots to practically back his return aims – NFL News
Terrell Suggs, Baltimore Ravens’ injured linebacker, has stepped out of his protective boots for the first time on the past weekend to prove he is well on the recovery course.
Since having surgery, Terrell is trying to defy odds and prove he can return to action some time this season. He has moved on from his earlier self-defined deadline of November for the comeback but still refrained from speculating exact timeline.
Earlier, he had thrown away his crutches to show he can come back.
During the initial phase of the claims, he was confronted by coach, Mike Tomlin, who said the player’s hopes are ambitious because they are without a doctor’s opinion.
But Terrell has remained determined to prove his critics wrong. In addition to his repeated statements, the player has been taking some practical steps to show he is very much on the opportunity for returning to the action.
He has walked without protective boots for the first time, apparently setting the tone for a light exercise or rehab workout, gradually moving to tougher and extensive schedule.
Interestingly, none of the team officials have said anything to his latest claim of returning to the squad. It can be down to the fact that the player himself has conceded in one of his statements that the November’s deadline might not be realistic for his
comeback.
Also, in spite of Terrell moving away from the dependence on crutches and protection, there is no timeline when his torn Achilles tendon heals. He does not have a doctor’s opinion but as normally these injuries do, he can consume up to six months for full
recovery.
Even more discouraging in the way of the recovery are the setbacks such injuries carry with them. So even though the player eyes an earliest possible return, which is also crucial to his team, he must be mindful of the risks associated.
He wisely has refused giving a timetable for his comeback, only hoping it happens some time this season. He can cover himself up in case of any setback that he meets in the process.
