Baltimore Ravens OG Bobbie Williams aims higher vs former team Cincinnati Bengals – NFL News
Former Cincinnati Bengals offensive guard Bobbie Williams, who ended his eight-year association with the team to join the Baltimore Ravens as a free agent this season, thinks of a difficult scenario while facing his former team in the season opener this
Monday but insists to have moved on, saying it is pure business and he is now very much a Raven.
He admits it is a little different to play with the teammates and now face them on the opposite side, but said he will try to make the whole competition a fun while remaining on the lighter side of the rivalry. It is not hatred, he added.
Bobbie says:
"For a second. And then, you know what? It's business. It's go Ravens right now. But for a second I'm going to go, `That's a little weird."
He then adds:
"They know not to let it get too out of hand. That's just respect. My motivation is just stepping on the field. That just happens to be a place I was at. Yeah, I know a couple guys over there. I'm going to take joy in playing against them. I'll make sure
I keep this smile on my face. It's not hatred.”
It is pertinent to mention that Bobbie started each single game for the Bengals throughout his career except for three games in 2006 while recovering from an appendectomy.
Now the Ravens have given him the faith and confidence and he is hopeful of building on the last year’s performance. His performance will be crucial to the team’s offensive group, which is captained by quarterback Joe Flacco.
Coach John Harbaugh has posed confidence into his abilities. His game level is one of the reasons that the Baltimore Ravens accepted him straightaway off the Bengals waivers. The Bengals move to cut him earlier this season came as surprise to some commentators,
given he had been the most successful player on the team’s offensive line.
The Ravens, who have given emphasis to their offence and especially are projected to focus run-driven scheme, are trying to increase protection around Flacco.
