Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco avoids talking deal talks deadlock – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has lately avoided answering questions related to the prospective new deal from the team after emergence of reports that the talks have long ago been stalled to never restart again.
The reported deadlock comes as bad news for the vocal Joe at a time when he is in supreme form, and has been backed by coach John Harbuagh to receive the demanded payout.
Flacco’s rookie contract will expire at end of this season and even though the franchise tag option is available for the Ravens they had earlier expressed willingness to give the quarterback a new deal.
Now the reports of the deadlock have surprised some commentators, who at the same time have fallen short of predicting if the development will have some sort of impact on the player’s performance. He can particularly fall in a sense of disbelief, confusion
and uncertainty.
The QB boldly portrayed positive posture during the offseason phase of uncertainty about the prospective deal negotiations, insisting he was focused on the game and had left the matter for his agent to worry about.
However, that optimistic attitude on Flacco’s part appeared after the player had threatened to sit out the entire offseason programme of the team if they did not come to the negotiations table. Surprisingly, he returned to the side unconditionally, showing
himself loath about any development around his deal.
Now the issue has resurfaced, and as reports of the deadlock emerged from the headquarters a couple of days ago, Flacco has maintained complete silence about his stance on the matter.
Although it is too early to conclude the present deadlock can translate into a permanent ‘no’ from the Ravens as far as the new deal is concerned, such possibility can be ruled out given the team has an option to tag Flacco on the restricted free agent tender
next year and the year after it. So at the end it is not for the player at all to play his cards as he wishes, as far as the future prospects are concerned.
