Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco impresses coach John Harbaugh at training camp – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens’ quarterback Joe Flacco is again in the limelight and this time around it is head coach John Harbaugh who has spoken high of the player’s talent and skills, and his remarks are well in line with the QB’s self-rating that he is the best in
the league.
Joe is at training camp taking part in the practice despite the fact that he has not been happy over the long pending demand for a new contract from the team. Although the Ravens have agreed to work out a fresh deal for the QB, the process is still far away
from start of the formal negotiations process.
The QB had earlier sounded to go rebellious about it, threatening to skip the entire offseason programme, but later showed up at all the practice sessions, unconditionally.
Apparently, the coach is pleased with the QB’s performance at training camp so far, which shows that the player, as claimed by him, is not dragged away by the tide of uncertainty around his new contract prospects.
John said:
“Yeah, you know it’s funny. We look really, really sharp the last couple of days in practice. Came out here and looked sharp, but I think because of the setting, it wasn’t quite there like it was the last two days, a couple of drops, things like that. Joe
is really on the money, so that’s good to see.”
It is for the first time that Joe is working under supervision of a fulltime quarterbacks coach. Former Indianapolis Colts’ head coach Jim Caldwell has arrived in Baltimore to accept QBs’ coaching responsibilities. He has trained Peyton Manning at Colts
and a couple of other high-profile QBs in the league.
Jim at the time of joining the Ravens had said that he had different plans for Flacco. The coach praised his talent and skills, saying he is as good as any other quarterback in the league.
Flacco himself has not commented on the prospective benefits he is likely to receive in his training and grooming under supervision of the specialised coach. He nevertheless looks as impressive as he had been during all past years of his pro career.
