Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice, others back QB Joe Flacco bounce back strongly – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens’ players have thrown their support behind offence leader, quarterback Joe Flacco, to bounce back on three-game skid to help the team possibly claim the American Football Conference (AFC) North division.
The Ravens after progressing remarkably well most of the season have lost three straight games to go down 9-5 from 9-2. They are desperate for an elusive win now to make the second round.
In case the Ravens falter again this Sunday, their competitors, the Cincinnati Bengals, have a fair chance to claim the AFC North. The Ravens will then have to compete with the Steelers for the second wildcard opportunity, and to avoid such a scenario, all
players including running back Ray Rice has backed Flacco to quickly adapt to Jim Caldwell’s offence and lead the team to the second round.
Ray said:
"We've had to go through a lot of adversity this year, and Joe being Joe, he's responded to it really well. It's not easy going through a change this late in the season, but the way he's handled it, he's still Joe. This week gives us a great opportunity
to bounce back.”
He added:
“Everything that we want is still in front of us. Quarterback is the toughest position in the game, and I just think with that amount of pressure he's handled it really well. Joe is still a great quarterback. He's our quarterback, and we're going to defend
him."
The Denver Broncos’ game was Flacco’s first under new offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell. He has replaced former offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, who was fired by head coach John Harbaugh because of some differences between him and Flacco.
With loss of the Broncos’ game, the quarterback has another chance this week to prove his leadership credentials. The offence leader has sounded to be confident and there is a greater possibility that with all the players’ support he returns to his prime
form.
