Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers to revive old rivalry in AFC North – NFL News
Two arch rivals, the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, are face to face this Sunday (Nov. 18) in a total American Football Conference (AFC) North showdown, bringing back memories of last season.
It was a clean-sweep for the Ravens last year in a two-game series and tiebreaker as well, which created some difficulties for the Steelers’ playoff chances.
The Ravens (7-2) are atop the AFC North again this year, while the Steelers not far behind at 6-3. Although the Ravens hold an edge over the rivals, a win for Steelers’ will settle many scores for them.
It is essential to note that the Ravens are coming off a big 55-20 win versus the Oakland Raiders and as coach John Harbaugh said their confidence level is very high.
According to the coach:
"I think confidence is borne of success. When you do things well, it's a positive thing. It doesn't guarantee anything, just like if you're struggling the week before it doesn't guarantee that you can't do something. Every week does stand on its own, but
playing well is a good thing. We'd like to build on that."
Before the comprehensive last win, all Ravens’ games have been very competitive, won with a very close margin, which had prompted a warning from the coach that they needed to improve their game.
Overall, the team has a positive frame of mind and can certainly target the Steelers for a win, but stakes apparently are higher for the Steelers, not for the Ravens. Also, the loss of two games during the 2011 seasons might put the Steelers on defensive
to start with the game.
Another setback for them is the injury suffered quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. If Ben is out it will serve a big blow to the Steelers’ hopes and chances for win over the Ravens. He has a sprained shoulder but level of severity the injury was not known until
filing of this report. The team can only hope he is safe and ready to play next weekend.
