Baltimore Ravens announce relocation of training camp – NFL News
The Baltimore Ravens announced to have decided to keep their training camp at their Owings Mills facility permanently.
The decision has been taken in light of the availability of better facilities to them at the new training place.
The Ravens said that their training camp, which was held at the Owings Mills facility during current football season (2011) because of then prevalent uncertainty about the National Football League (NFL) lockout, will now be moved
to it permanently.
The team had been holding its training camps at McDaniel College in Westminster for last 15 years but now deserted it over new choice available at Owings Mills.
They team management in a statement on Friday said that at the new facility their team players and staff are able to move to shelter and safety quickly in case of bad weather, and enjoy other facilities.
The team's indoor facilities including conditioning machines, training and medical services were far better than those at their previous place. It is far more helpful for players to do workouts here than the previous place.
Teams start their pre-season preparation with training camps soon after end of the draft season in April, which is the main source of recruitment of players into professional football franchises.
McDaniel apparently was not disappointed with the Ravens decision for relocation of their training camp to a newer place after having spent more than a decade at the college.
The college said in a statement that they had great respect for the Ravens and see their decision as right choice for them. The college further said that it was great that the Ravens had a long commitment to the college in Westminster
and they appreciate them for that.
The new place might also be seen as advantageous for players as it will be an exclusive workout place for them without any presence of fans.
More than 110,000 fans had been attending the Ravens open training sessions at their camp at McDaniel College. They however are not allowed to enter the Owings Mills. This will certainly be a bad news for them that they will not
be able to watch their stars doing workout.
