Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh desperate for LB Terrell Suggs’ return -NFL News
Baltimore Ravens' coach, John Harbaugh, says he is keen to have linebacker, Terrell Suggs, back in the line at the earliest and he cares little about anything else.
Harbaugh said this in his remarks regarding the controversy surrounding the circumstances that caused the player’s torn achilles tendon injury.
Suggs and his agent maintain that the injury occurred at the conditioning test, while independent sources are quoted in media reports claiming he was injured while playing basketball.
Ravens' coach says he cares little about the circumstances in which Suggs was injured. The only thing he cares about is that the player should be back on the field.
He said:
"It's not relevant to anything or has anything to do with what we're trying to accomplish. If it were I guess we'd think about it. The relevant conversation with Terrell Suggs is going to be rehab."
John is right in his place since he does not have to pay the player for the time he spent out of the field while recovering.
As a matter of fact, the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) allows Ravens to cut a player’s compensation for the period he spends in recovery, if it is established that the injury is a result of an activity out of the team facilities
and in offseason.
While Suggs claims the injury occurred during conditioning test, Ravens have not made any comment indicating that they want to slash the player’s compensation amount for the period.
Suggs and his agent’s claim about the occurrence of the injury were denied by an eyewitness – a staff member of the gym where Suggs allegedly played basketball.
The controversy does not affect the coach and he insists the LB should be back at the earliest.
Suggs, who claims he suffered a partly torn achilles tendon, is hopeful of a comeback in November this year – almost two months after the start of the 2012 season.
Ravens are in dire situation at the LB position after losing another defensive player to the same injury.
Michael McAdoo, the reserve LB, is out of the team for the entire next season after having a surgery to repair his torn achilles tendon a week ago.
