Baltimore Ravens confirm TE Ed Dickson shoulder injury not structural damage – NFL News
The Baltimore Ravens are hopeful about return of tight end Ed Dickson who left the side during the preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday with a shoulder injury, which later scan results showed is not a structural damage.
It was another setback for Ravens who had hoped to use Dickson and Dennis Pitta in the passing game more frequently.
Pitta is already out of the preseason with a broken hand. He suffered the injury at training camp, and now Dickson’s ousting has further aggravated the defence woes of the team.
Earlier, the team had expressed fears that Dickson was out of this season campaign but later confirmed that the MRI tests showed the player had avoided the possibility of suffering a structural damage to his shoulder.
This is expected to allow him a speedy recovery and Ravens have hoped the TE is back in the squad after spending a week on the recovery. He might be a bit delayed but the team nevertheless expects him to be a part of the squad for the regular season opener.
Ravens have the opening game against the Cincinnati Bengals and they still have got more than three weeks left to start of the season, enough time for the player to recover and report back his fitness.
It was a rather disappointing start for the team. With both Pitta and Dickson out, there is a fear that another defensive end, Ryan McBean, is ousted for the season for a fracture dislocation. He reportedly requires surgery and the recovery process is expected
to consume a lengthy period, probably forcing him out of the season.
Officially, Ravens have not provided any timeline for his return, and are said to be waiting for the surgery to take place before they can comment on his situation.
The Baltimore Ravens have often heavily relied on their defence and the number of injuries they have already suffered this season brings bad news to their hopes of better performance this season. Ravens have made it to the playoffs for the last four consecutive
seasons, still waiting to reach the Super Bowl title game.
