Baltimore Ravens’ cornerback Lardarius Webb aims for new heights in professional career-NFL News
Baltimore Ravens’ cornerback, Lardarius Webb, is aiming to walk taller in the league after landing a hefty $50 million deal by the team.
Webb has spoken of his ambitions of taking his career to the highest possible glory, but seems to be unsure of the target he foresees for himself.
In an interview a few days earlier, he said to have set the Hall of Fame as the highest peak that he wants to climb but a couple of days later he thinks of a lower point.
Webb said:
"I know how far I have to go. I pay my respect to the guys that have been there and done that, and I don’t try to jump the gun too quick. I know about the (Darrelle) Revises, the Nnamdi (Asomugha)s, the Charles Woodsons, the Champ Baileys, and I want to
get there one day, and I still have a lot of work to get there.”
Webb then added:
"I want to be the best cornerback in the NFL - not Revis. I don’t want you to say Revis every time. No disrespect, I’ve seen the guy play ball and he’s great. He’s a great player, a great DB, but I want to be the guy.”
Although the future is going to bear witness to his progress, some NFL commentators believe it is the highly valued contract that has attracted the player to speculate self-assuring targets in front of him.
They are cautious to back his viewpoint despite admitting that achieving any target is possible for any player in the league including Webb.
With Ed. Reed moving out of Baltimore, Webb has the field quite open in front of him. He is going to play the leader’s role in the next season. So, it will be a good opportunity for him to prove his ambitions of worthy achievement of the targets he has set
for himself.
Webb is probably the luckiest player to have won an expensive contract from Ravens. Some of other hopefuls like quarterback, Joe Flacco, and running back, Ray Rice, are yet to hear from the managers about extension of their respective deals, let alone a
pay raise, expected by them.
