Baltimore Ravens excited for first playoff game at home against Houston Texans– NFL News Update
Some of the Baltimore Ravens' players and officials are finding it difficult to hide their excitement over having a home game in their first playoff round and have spoken highly of their ambitious hopes to grab the Super Bowl rings this year.
The M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore will host the match against the Houston Texans for their playoff game on Sunday, January 15, 2012.
It is for the first time for both teams that they are through to the playoff round of National Football League (NFL).
John Harbaugh, Baltimore's coach, has taken his side to the wild-card phase three times in the past.
It is the first time that he is leading his side into the playoffs, courtesy of their perfect record at home in the 2011 NFL regular season.
Having won all the home games, the Ravens did not have to play a wild-card game this year and are through to the next round.
Further, they have won a home game due to their home wins' record and their players and officials are apparently excited to have the home-ground and home-crowd advantage, along with aiming for a victory over the weekend.
A number of players have spoken of their looking-forward approach to the game and said they will look to exploit the home advantage for a definite win this time.
"If you look at wild-card weekend, I don't think that there was one home team that lost the whole weekend", linebacker, Ray Lewis, said.
"When you get into that, it plays a big momentum. It's a big momentum swing for you. It's just hard to win on the road. I don't care who you are, I don't care how good you are, it's hard to win on the road. For us to work as hard as we did, get 12 wins,
do the things we were supposed to do, and now get this home playoff game, we have positioned ourselves to be in the right place. Now we have to go finish it".
It is also the first playoff game for coach Harbaugh. The man in charge of the affairs has backed his side for a must win over the Houston Texans.
The M&T Bank Stadium is expected to be full to its capacity and with home crowds backing them up, players stated that they are thrilled to play the tie, which for many of them will be their last chance to salvage their reputation.
Some of the Ravens veterans such as linebacker Ray Lewis, were part of the Baltimore losing side in all three previous attempts.
They are aiming to fight off the losers tag and they will not have a better opportunity for this than playing on their home ground.
