Baltimore Ravens face off Cleveland Browns despite hating Thursday games – NFL News
From head coach John Harbaugh to veteran safety Ed Reed, a majority of Baltimore Ravens’ members have expressed their disliking of Thursday games, with Reed going as far as saying the entire arrangement of these matchups have more monetary motives than a
service to the sport.
The Ravens will face the Cleveland Browns this Thursday and in spite of all the hatred for the game, which is just after their recent Sunday’s tie versus New England Patriots, they must successfully overcome the challenge to further consolidate their lead
in the American Football Conference (AFC) North division.
Coach Harbaugh said:
"We've played Thursday after a Sunday but we haven't played Thursday after a Sunday night."
He added:
"It's going to be a huge challenge for us. I know they're going to come in here, a division game, a big rivalry game, always a big emotional game against the Browns. We've played a lot of tough games against these guys."
He is joined by Ed Reed in the hate for these games, who says:
"I never liked it when the Thursday night game came out. It's all about money. Like I said, it's out of my hands."
It is now to be seen how the Ravens meet this challenge which otherwise does not look to be very difficult, given their opposition is struggling at all positions and will come into the game with three consecutive losses at their back.
So while players like Reed may not feel comfortable or even hundred percent during the game, the Browns are less likely to exploit the situation to their gains.
In comparison of the two teams at almost all positions both stand far apart. The Ravens are studded with veteran and well experienced stars, while the Browns are led by rookies at almost all positions.
From quarterback Brandon Weeden to receiver Greg Little, many players are into first year of their pro careers, and although they are as confident as the veterans from the Ravens, their lack of experience will certainly make them less effective against the
opponents. A win by them will be a major upset of the league.
