Baltimore Ravens having back Cary Williams in full action from training camp – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens are hopeful about return of cornerback Cary Williams, who is out of the side due to a hip injury since Week 10 of the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season, from training camp due to start this Thursday.
Cary had a surgery to repair a torn labrum in February this year and is in the phase of recovery and rehab since then. He has missed the entire organised team activities (OTAs) and other offseason training programme.
He said:
“I plan on just going right out there with the guys. I don’t expect to take any days off unless they tell me that’s what I need to do. As far as I’m concerned, I’m full go.”
Apparently, the player remains confident about returning to full form and fitness, ruling out if he is going to take some time to ease back into his role at the cornerback position.
According to him:
“I'm past that hurdle. Maybe during mini-camp, it was one of those things where it was in my head that it was still hurting and it wasn't 100 percent. Right now, I can do anything that everybody else can do. I've been working it hard trying to get it back
and I think I'm going to be ahead of schedule."
The Ravens are starting full training activity at the camp from this Thursday. The players will start arriving at the camp from Tuesday – a couple of days before the formal opening.
Cary joined the Ravens in 2009 off Tennessee Titans waivers, and has remained a crucial and regular member of the squad since then. He left the past season halfway in pain after suffering the injury.
Earlier, there were some fears that the injury might cost the player his career while he was certain to miss the remaining part of the season. The results from later scans showed the injury was not of a serious nature but the player was advised at least
six months’ rest to be able to return to action without any problem.
Williams comeback chances were confirmed earlier this month as both the player and the team expressed their confidence in the pace and progress of his recovery.
