Baltimore Ravens hope safety Ed Reed returns to action from training camp – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens’ safety Ed Reed has given a glimpse of hope about his availability to the squad at training camp but still the league analysts are sceptical to predict it happening definitely.
Reed surprised everyone with his sudden disclosure a couple of days ago that he is playing the National Football League (NFL) this season. Not only this season but another three to four years, he said.
This cleared the entire phase of uncertainty about his decision of not playing the pro league anymore as he said in one of his statements about taking time off the offseason activity was misunderstood as his decision to retire.
A couple of days after his startling revelations, he showed up at the Baltimore Ravens facility, doing workout, which was duly recorded and podcasted on the team’s website.
It is yet to be known if this can be taken as a guarantee that the player is confirmed for training camp. Almost all analysts agree to the player’s tendency of frequent public statements changes and if he assures to show up at training
camp and then misses, they say, it will not be a surprise.
Nevertheless, the Ravens are hoping now that the safety is finally back on the track to return to action. Although he has not raised the question of his new deal, there is a feeling in the league he can put forward the demand anytime.
He has already hinted at doing so during one of his offseason remarks.
The management has not officially confirmed if they have any such application in pending from Reed’s end, but they will certainly need to consider it at one point this season.
The safety’s present contract is into last year and if the team buys into his claim of playing another three or four years and agree to it, they will have to hammer out a new deal for him.
They have already signed another veteran Ray Rice and most likely to find a solution to the pending deal demand of quarterback Joe Flacco in the near future. Once they are done with these deals, Reed’s contract renewal will not have to
wait much.
