Baltimore Ravens have lived up to their reputation of beating some heavy weights, by holding off the Cincinnati Bengals 31-24 on the past Sunday.
This was not first time that Ravens, whose hopes for the Super bowl increase with every win, have beaten a stronger opponent. They have already reached this exclusive mark twice against the co-leader Pittsburgh Steelers early in
the current season. They have also managed to beat New York Jets on their way to the lead in the American Football Conference (AFC) north division.
The Steelers are leading the AFC north, and Ravens with their win on the Sunday have caught up with them. However, Ravens have an advantage of lead breaker having overcome Steelers twice in the current season.
Ravens New York Jets and Steelers wins have surprised many. However their losses against light weights like Seattle Seahawks was also a point to ponder upon: why Ravens lose against the comparatively weaker oppositions.
However, there are many problems that need the Ravens’ attention before they set their sights on the Super bowl. One of them is their defence problem. Despite their win, Ravens had at one stage stood well to losing their lead to
Bengals. The latter had come close to tying the score in the fourth quarter; however, Ravens survived the scare. Their starter Ray Lewis was also out after having played consecutive 57 games for them.
The defence was also the main problem for the Ravens in their surprise loss to the Seattle Seahawks. However, their coach John Harbaugh said that they were learning from the mistakes. He said, “You learn from everything,” Ravens
