Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis returns after four-game lapse – NFL NewsThe Baltimore Ravens were finally given boost by return of their star linebacker Ray Lewis who played his first game for his side on past Sunday after having missed four games consecutively in a row.The side had missed Lewis for last four games due to a toe injury, but they had managed to overcome his absence successfully and claimed victories to their credit in all those games. The return of Lewis however contributed less to their luck as the Ravens lost their crucial tie with a margin of 14-34 score to their hosts San Diego Chargers on the past weekend. The Ravens at the score of 10-3 in the American Football Conference (AFC) north division were in a must win situation to stay intact on the course to their divisional title and a playoff berth. They with the loss to the Chargers have now trailed behind their divisional archrivals the Pittsburgh Steelers who are with the score of 10-4 in the division. The Steelers are playing their next game in the current regular season of National Football League (NFL) on Monday night and a win for them will surely dent the Ravens chances for the divisional title. They are now in a phase of wait and hope for the Colts to lose to reclaim the tie with them.Ravens loss has also dented the Cincinnati Bengals’ hopes for a wild card berth in playoff. The divisional leader the Pittsburgh Steelers now stand a chance of winning the divisional title leaving Ravens behind for the wild card playoff berth.Ray Lewis who the Ravens had announced to have been activated on their roster just before their game on past Sunday failed to pull up his side to avoid an inevitable loss.Lewis return also did not help the Ravens to the extent that the side might have expected given the reasons that they missed out some of other key players. They had announced in their pre-match brief that they were going into their game against the San Diego Chargers without some of their key players. It came as a major setback to the side looking to inflict a defeat on their hosts. In the pre-match summary it was disclosed that the Ravens were without their wide receivers Tandon Doss and Laquan Williams. Both the players were left out for apparently been declared unfit for play. The nature and status of their injuries or illness however was not revealed by the side. There was also no confirmation if the players would be able to make it to their next game.Ravens’ defensive back Danny Gorrer and their running back Anthony Allen were also ruled out of the game for their respective injuries.
