Baltimore Ravens’ middle linebacker Ray Lewis anxious for comeback – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens’ middle linebacker Ray Lewis is very much anxious to stage a comeback for his side in their next game against the Cleveland Browns this Sunday.
Lewis had almost been performing a role of coach and a cheerleader for last consecutive two games after having been forced on the sideline by his toe injury.
Now he has set strong hopes for playing to his side this week despite that he did not take part in practice session on Wednesday.
"There is not even a question, I want to be out there with my teammates," Lewis said. "As a leader, it is hard to watch your team go out there and compete, but I can't be selfish. I didn't want to push it and play if I wasn't 100
percent."
He has watched the Baltimore Ravens last two games, against the Cincinnati Bengals and San Francisco 49ers, keenly and while directing and guiding through his teammates by his shouts, from the sideline.
"Even though I wasn't physically out there the last two games, I was with my teammates the whole time cheering them on and in their ears every time I saw something that might help," Lewis said. "I'm doing everything I can to get
back and help this team get where we want to go."
Ravens’ Coach Pat Shurmur said that he too had on his mind that Lewis will be playing their Sunday game. He said that since the Ray Lewis was a competitive player he wanted to go out on the field and contribute to his side, he
said adding that he anticipated that the player would be playing in the next game.
Baltimore Ravens had inflicted a defeat on the 49ers in their historical tie on Thanksgiving Day, when the brothers John Harbaugh and Jim Harbaugh faced each other. The Ravens 8-3 are now divisional leader in American Football
Conference (AFC) north, sharing the lead with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
With the expected return of Ray Lewis the Ravens side is expected to get boost and have good chances of beating of the Browns this week and to continue their winning streak.
