Baltimore Ravens open training camp on July 26 – NFL News
The Baltimore Ravens are expected to hit training camp at Owings Mills 'Under Armour Performance Center' on July 26, as per the schedule announced by the management on Friday.
All the players have been asked to report to the camp a few days before the start date, but the formal training and workout activity begins as per the schedule.
The rookies, quarterbacks and injured players are set to start working out a couple of days earlier, July 24, and will train with the rest of the teammates from 26th.
According to the team’s timetable, the camp, which is being held under the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA), will have the official beginning time at 2:30 afternoons. The routine will prevail from the opening day until August
15.
Ravens are not planning to open all the training sessions to public. Instead, they have decided to invite the public to three exclusive practice sessions.
The sessions open to public are one at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on August 04, another at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis on August 12 and the last one at Stevenson University's Mustang Stadium in Owings Mills on August
19. First two sessions are scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm and the last one at 3:30 pm.
Former Indianapolis Colts’ head coach, Jim Caldwell, who is the new quarterbacks coach at Ravens, is going to supervise the QBs at the camp for the first time. Otherwise, the team is coming out with the same old faces.
The management can expect running back Ray Rice skipping the camp if he is not given a new contract until its start. He has July 16 as the deadline to sign his franchise tender, which he has not done so far as a protest to a long-term
deal demand.
He, however, faces the risk of $30,000 fine for each day he skips the camp. Both sides are apparently hopeful about reaching an amicable solution to the matter by then.
Quarterback, Joe Flacco, is also in a similar situation but he is less likely to miss the camp even if not given a new deal.
He is demanding a long-term contract and earlier threatened to skip the workout activity during the offseason. Later, he resigned to the fact that he does not have control over the situation.
Baltimore Ravens are the Super Bowl contenders this season as they had been for the last four consecutive seasons, but yet to play the title game.
