Baltimore Ravens performance report till Week 7 – NFL Special Part 1
In this new series of performance report, we look into performance of Baltimore Ravens in the first seven Weeks of the season.
Ravens are sailing smoothly to reach the postseason after having a superb 5-2 record. They are currently leading American Football Conference (AFC) North.
Ravens had no trouble in the first six games of the season. Even their loss against Philadelphia Eagles came with slightest of margins.
However, their final game before the bye week gave a rude awakening for Ravens. Despite being at the top of the division, many things have to be worked out before Ravens head to the second half of the season.
Week 1: Cincinnati Bengals
Ravens opened their season at home and thrashed their divisional rivals Cincinnati Bengals 44-13.
The win came despite quarterback Joe Flacco not performing his level best. Flacco completed 21 of 29 for 299 yards and scored two touchdowns as Bengals overhyped defence remained below par.
Running back Ray Rice easily penetrated through Bengals defence. He carried the ball 10 times for 68 yards along with two rushing touchdowns.
Ravens were playing without their star linebacker Terrell Suggs. However, the defence easily controlled Bengals offence to score just three points in the second half.
Safety Ed Reed and linebacker Ray Lewis kept the defence disciplined throughout the game.
Week 2: Philadelphia Eagles
Despite pushing hard for a win Ravens lost 23-24 against Philadelphia Eagles.
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick got a touchdown with less than two minutes left in the game to seal the victory.
Ravens rookie snapper Justin Tucker finished the game with three superb field goals. The defence gave good performance as they forced a large number of turnovers.
Week 3: New England Patriots
Ravens got a change of fortune this time after a heartbreaking loss in previous week. They got a 31-30 victory against the mighty New England Patriots, thanks to a 27-yard field goal from Justin Tucker.
Flacco finished the game with 28 of 39 for 382 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Rice carried the ball 20 times for 101 yards and a touchdown.
