Baltimore Ravens refuse to let lose their Super Bowls hopes, optimistic of playing it next season - NFL News
The Baltimore Ravens have refused to let lose their hopes of playing a Super Bowl event despite that they have failed themselves in last four attempts in span of four years, successively.
Expressing a mix of emotions at a conference call, Ravens’ owner, Steve Bisciotti, along with his president, d**k Cass, general manager, Ozzie Newsome, and head coach, John Harbaugh, said that he was hopeful of playing the event next season.
He also praised his squad for having achieved so much for four times as to playing in the second round of the National Football League (NFL), which is a unique record of their team, irrespective to the fact that they could get it past the playoff round every
time they played the postseason.
Bisciotti said:
"There's a lot of pride and a lot of disappointment. I am proud of the product we're giving Baltimore."
Bisciotti went on to back his players in the time of disappointment, as many of them are yet unable to be over with their loss of the American Football Conference (AFC) championship to the New England Patriots .
"I don't think any of us are over it, but we have to move on," he said.
He has also rewarded some of them by handing them down new deals, ending the uncertainty around their future with increasing possibility of their retirement or release from the side. Some of those lucky are quarterback, Joe Flacco, and running back, Ray
Rice.
The owner has especially backed his offense line, which has come as their focus lately, and they have already signed a fulltime offensive coach, Jim Caldwell, off Indianapolis Colts’ waiver.
Ravens have been criticised for betting too much on their defence, which ranked as the second best on the National Football League (NFL), and ignoring their offence to slip down at 15th position on the league.
The offence, which has all of sudden become their priority, is not going to affect their defensive strategy, he said, adding they will attempt to maintain a balance between the two departments and apply them tactically to achieve desired results.
"It's a very delicate balance when you try and shift attention over to the offense," Bisciotti said. "The next thing you know, you're giving up 27 points a game. We don't want to be there as an organization. ... I'm not going to be trading (cornerbacks)
Jimmy Smith and Lardarius Webb for (Cardinals star wideout Larry) Fitzgerald because that's the quickest way to get there."
He said all the preparations were being made with next season on mind and hoped they will be able to play the postseason round of the league once again.
He apparently did not throw a light on their weakness in road games. Despite that Ravens had a perfect home record they could not equally impressed in road games.
