Baltimore Ravens snatch overtime victory against the Houston Texans Part II

By the second half of the Baltimore Ravens VS Houston Texans the Texans were trailing 14 points behind the Baltimore Ravens. Their offense had been terrible throughout the first half. The quarterback passed just 75 yards in the first quarter but things picked
up for them by the end of the second quarter as Matt Schaub had his first touchdown.
The third quarter opened disastrously for the Texans. Neil Rackers opened the quarter with a 73 yard kick from the 30 yard line. What he did not expect was that wide receiver David Reed would return his kick for a 103 yard touchdown.
The Texans needed to turn things around and do it fast. They had two quarters to catch up to Baltimore’s 21 point lead. After Reed’s touchdown, Schaub and running back Arian Foster put some life into Houston’s offence. The drive was slow but the continued
to make the yards within the downs. Houston headed up to Baltimore’s 41 yard line in 8 plays. From Baltimore’s 41 Schaub threw 26 yards Jacoby Jones. On the next play Foster fumbled the ball however the ball was recovered by Houston’s Jones.
The Texans pushed up to Baltimore’s 6 yard line but Baltimore’s defence forced them to stop right there. Even after 15 plays Houston couldn’t score a touchdown and had to attempt the field goal. Neil Rackers attempted the field goal and the attempt was good.
The Ravens’ offense continued to struggle. Flacco started on the 22 yard line after the field goal. On the second play of the drive Flacco was sacked by Darryl Sharpton for 9 yards. The offense was unable to salvage the drive and went for the punt. Houston
started regained possession on the 35 yard line. Schaub and Matt continued to make gain but like before the drive stopped short of the end zone. The Texans moved up to Baltimore’s 24 yard line where Rackers attempted the field goal again. The attempt was good
and put the Texans on 13 against Baltimore 28 points.
The Texans continued their offensive success into the fourth quarter. Schaub kept make small but consistent gains instead of relying on few big plays. Arian Foster supported him with 16 yards on one play and 10 yards on another. Schaub missed as many passes
as he made but made sure the yards kept coming. Shcaub threw a 7 yard touchdown pass Jacoby Jones. Schaub waited behind the offensive line until Jones ran to the left edge of the field inside the end zone to receive the pass.
The Texans were just 8 points behind the Ravens. Even a touchdown with an extra point would not have been enough for Houston. They had less than 3 minutes to score 8 points to take the game into overtime. Schaub rallied the Texans with the same style that
had worked well against the Ravens defence, repetitive small gains and keeping the drive alive. The drive took most of the remaining time. Schaub took the Texans to Baltimore’s 27 with just 60 seconds remaining. He threw 10 and 12 yards passes to Foster and
Andre Johnson before he spiked the ball to stop the clock on the 5 yard line.
Schaub threw the final 5 yards touchdown pass to Johnson to score the touchdown. The extra point would have left them trailing Baltimore by 1 point so the Texans attempted the two point conversion to tie the game. Schaub threw the ball towards Jacoby Jones
and the two point conversion attempt was successful.
In overtime the Texans scuttled the Ravens as Mark Anderson sacked Flacco for 11 yards and forcing Baltimore to punt. Possession returned to the Texans on the 9 yard line. Schaub attempted to throw the ball to Kevin Walter but the pass was intercepted on
Houston’s 12 yard line by Josh Wilson who carried it 12 yards for touchdown and winning the game for the Ravens.
The Ravens won 34 against 28 in the third minute of overtime.
