Baltimore Ravens target Cincinnati Bengals game with a must win – NFL News
The Baltimore Ravens said they are targeting the Cincinnati Bengals game this Sunday as a playoff tie and will go all selfish to secure a must win and protect their second round interests.
Despite that the Ravens have been confirmed a place into the second round of the National Football League (NFL), a win on the weekend will help them secure a bye in the first phase of playoff. They said this was the reason that they were taking the game
seriously.
"Needless to say, this week is a playoff game. It's big for them but even bigger for us," running back Ray Rice said. "It's huge. It makes a world of difference. "Not having that bye, you usually come back into that next game scratching and clawing. As you
could see, Pittsburgh was the fresher team last year when we had to play them in the divisional game. Second half, they came out with their motor running and we came out high, and then we hit a low.”
The side’s road game wins record is not as good as their home wins and a win on Sunday can certainly play well into their hopes to get passed the first phase of playoff successfully.
The Ravens have made it to playoff for last four years straight but could not get through to Super Bowl even once. This time they hope to reach the final event and are targeting the Bengals game with a win to make sure that their chances are intact hundred
per cent.
"It's about us, man. It's not about them," Ravens defensive end Cory Redding said.
A possible win over the Cincinnati Bengals will also help the Ravens to be the American Football Conference (AFC) north champions.
They are tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers with the score of 11-4 atop the AFC north but hold the tie breaker for having beaten the Steelers twice earlier in the season.
The Steelers are up against the Cleveland Browns with odds in their favour to win and confirm their place into playoff. However, the Ravens loss against the Bengals can help the Steelers to claim the divisional title.
The Cincinnati Bengals who too are among playoff hopefuls with the possible win have already lost their previous game against the Ravens. The side however will have the home-ground advantage. There are already reports of sellout, and fans support can play
against into the Ravens poorer record in away games.
