Baltimore Ravens wideout Tommy Streeter’s workout noted in OTAs -NFL News
The onlookers, who watched Baltimore Ravens’ rookie wideout, Tommy Streeter’s workout at organised team activities (OTAs) over the past week, rate him as a talented player.
It is not very rare for pundits to pick a player out of OTAs based on their projections of potential and form.
Yet, some analysts view the remarks about Streeter’s future coming too early as he has been just out on the field in pro conditions for a week.
Again, many other believe that the analysis of future prospects is merely restrictive to pundits’ own calculations, that at many occasions in the past had proven to be wrong in their projections.
Also, there is no conclusive or final word on Streeter’s performance and he is just being seen as “a project or a bust.”
A section of media has quoted Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec citing a number of those pundits who profiled the player’s talent and skills.
The writer quoted them as saying:
"He looks raw with his route running and he's also dropped quite a few balls."
He wrote:
"But let's remember that those same criticisms were being lobbed at (receiver) Torrey Smith when he was struggling during training camp last year, and I'd say his rookie year worked out just fine."
Ravens signed Streeter in the sixth round of the draft this year due to his impressive 17.6 yards per catch average last year.
Streeter, however, is less likely to be given the leading role in presence of other wide receivers such as Jacoby Jones, LaQuan Williams, Anquan Boldin and Tandon Doss.
It will not be an easy ride for the player to start his pro career. He faces a challenging and competitive environment and the only way for him to prove his credentials would be to get himself immersed into the pro career conditions swiftly.
He has spoken of great confidence in his abilities, irrespective of how the outsiders or onlookers rate his talent and skills.
He told the Baltimore Sun:
"I'm extremely hungry. I kind of feel like a lot of people didn't believe in me, even though I believed in myself.”
It is down to his performance in the upcoming season to prove his critics wrong.
