Baltimore Ravens will need to put up strong defence to down Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday – NFL news
Baltimore Ravens will need to put up a strong defence against the Cincinnati Bengals to come out their mark of losing against lightweights.
They have beaten some of the strong line-ups such as the New York Jets while lost against the weaker oppositions like Seattle Seahawks.
One of their main problems was defence. In their match against Seahawks for example they had conceded 109 yards.
Their running back Marshawn Lynch who is the key to their defence faces another challenge this week in the form of the Cincinnati Bengals.
It is expected a difficult assignment for him but he will need do job well if the Ravens want to go one up to share the lead with Pittsburgh Steelers in the American Football Conference (AFC) north division.
Steelers lead 7-3 in the division, while Ravens points are tied with Bengals 6-3.
“We’ve got our hands full,” defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano acknowledged during his weekly briefing. “We’ve played him well last year the two times we played. Then two years ago, both times, he had over 100 yards on us. So he’s
more than capable. So we’ve got to go a great job on him.”
Lynch will be up against the Bengals tailback Cedric Benson, although, he ranks 14th in the current season of the American football's premier league, National Football League (NFL) with 593 yards. In reality however, he has gained
yards more on the ground than the Ravens’ Ray Rice, who is at 559 yards.
However, Benson will not be alone; he will be supported by their offense, which ranks 10 in the NFL.
“They’re huge, real big guys up front and they’ve been together for a while now,” Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata said. “They’re a real physical group, too. It looks like on film, they like to bully guys around. We just have
to make sure that we stop that and make sure we stop Cedric Benson.”
Pagano said that Lynch was going to come and he would go to hand the ball off. He said they had charted in the last games they had played against Bengals and added that it was rushes game.
