Baltimore Ravens win seventh consecutive home game
Fresh off their bye week, the Baltimore Ravens’ dominance over the Miami Dolphins was not for the weak of heart. Lead by quarterback, Joe Flacco, the AFC North division leaders put on a football clinic
on Sunday, at M&T Bank Stadium dismantling Miami 26-10.
"We did a great job all day. I don't know if you can even point to one drive," Flacco said. "We really drove the ball well all day."
The Ravens improved to 6-2 in the NFL 2010 regular season by holding the Dolphins to only 289 yards of net offence. The Dolphins’ lone touchdown came in the first quarter on a 12-yard TD run by Ronnie
Brown.
But it was no surprise that Baltimore’s offence managed to function efficiently, culminating with 402 yards of net offence. Flacco was outstanding in this contest completing 20 of 27 passes for 266 yards
and two touchdown passes with a season-high 129.6 QB rating.
The Ravens got off to a fast start scoring on their opening drive. The game plan was to get the ball out of Flacco’s hand early and allow his running-backs to make plays in the passing game. Willis McGahee
took full advantage and opened the scoring on a short screen pass that saw him go 32 yards virtually untouched for a touchdown.
The diminutive Ray Rice was also utilized in the play-calling and led the team in receptions with seven catches for 97 yards. All these dump off pass to the running-backs lured Miami’s defence to cover
the short gain and left the door wide open for Flacco to connect with receiver Derrick Mason on a 12-yard touchdown that gave the Ravens a 20-10 lead in the third quarter. This was the second time of the season that the two hooked up in the red zone.
"It was a ridiculous performance by our defence," Miami linebacker Channing Crowder said following the game. "It was too easy for them."
Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff added four field goals connecting from 26, 39, 20, 24 yards.
The Ravens defence were physical and shut down Miami’s offence in the second half. Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne went 22-of-34 passing for 231 yards with three interceptions.Ravens' Ed Reed, Josh Wilson
and Lardarius Webb were the recepients of Henne's miscues.
"I think it was just a collective effort where we just didn't get it done offensively," Henne said following Miami’s first road loss of the season.
