Question:

Bamboo shrimp for my dad?

by  |  earlier

my dad has recently gotten into aquariums, and he's really big into "odd" fish. i was thinking about getting him 1-2 bamboo shrimp.

i know a few things about them, but i always can use more info.

i know they filter feed, and are peaceful, they get 2-4 inches long, cant tolerate copper medication, and prefer being in a current.

any other advice?

p.s. if you answered or saw my previous question ( http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ajbj2khRAoAS.J.cUN_ZbBnsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080818133952AAVznJj ) dont worry, my dad didnt like the tank, so he went out and bought a 29 gallon tank.

  1. if you get shrimp then you want atleast 10 for a decent amount in a tank really

Lots of leafy plants are a good idea as most fish will see shrimp as food

(edgeria densa is the plant i use in my shrimp tanks)

and if you want to eat them then you are better off with atlantic coldwater marine shrimp, which are also used as feeder shrimp for a lot of big fish

    they taste quite nice :)

boiled alive for a about 30 seconds

but they are a lot of hassle for very little meat :P

    hope i helped :)

By the way if you live in the uk i can source most kinds of fish from local breeders and i can also get quite a few "oddballs" :P
