  1. Its ridiculous because its downright dangerous. The tyres are designed to operate at 90 degrees centigrade, at least! In wet conditions, expect some big crashes. I'm glad that the slicks are returning though.

  2. The teams that have tested their cars with non-warmed tyres found the difference in lap times (compared to optimally heated tyres) to be around 15 seconds, give or take a couple. Some people here have commented that we will see more overtakings with this new rule - sure, there will be overtaking, but they will be more like the backmarkers getting lapped, and so it won't be such an excitement. The danger arises when the car being "lapped" or overtaken by a rival car fighting for position tries to resist and block - there will be an ugly collision. Also, some drivers may drive zig zag like they do during the parade lap to warm up the tyres which may cause collisions.

  3. all the tire warmer ban is going to do is give us 1, maybe 2 laps of slower corner speeds coming out of the pits, they are still going to have a parade lap before the start to get the tire temps up just like they do now, its really a non issue as far as I'm concerned,

  4. I think a ban on tire warmers is great!  F1 needs some overtaking after the first tern.  Cold tires will make the start of the race and the first lap after a pit stop difficult and chalenging and will seperate the real drivers form the pretenders, it goes along with the ban on TC.  This will be good for F1.

  5. i think its a stupid ban.. ban more stuff and make the sport more dangerous at the same time! way to think!

read the article on auto sport, nico claims running those first few laps on cold tires is more like survival lol. and i dont blame him, when u have dead cold tires and someone behind you is gonna try to scream into the corner your about to approach, u best move out of the way and GIVE UP the hard earn position.. unless your David Coulthard of course.. just keep to your line and don't budge until the other person crashes into you...

remember piquet at monaco? cold dry weather tires plus a little rain.. he crashed on what was it? the first or second corner he approached?  while alonso was setting fast lap times

the ban is going to be brutal for the newer drivers and that can lead to some disastrous first corner events for everyone on the grid

do like the idea of returning slicks tho..

  6. No, the Tyre warmer ban is a brill idea. i was also a big fan of the one set of Tyre rule. However if they ban refueling instead i wouldn't be too upset

  7. I think they should be banned NOW, honestly.  The tires should be warmed up on the track, not in the pits.  The driver should just learn to cope with cold tires for a few laps until they get up to temperature....

No one will gain an advantage this way, as the rule will apply to ALL, and who knows, we might actually see some on-track overtaking, as opposed to the pit-strategy-overtaking that's so prevalent nowadays.

  8. Its bloody stupid  rule i blame Bernie Ecclestone he is the worse stupid guy in formula 1. they ought to get him out and put someone better than him,

  9. .

I think they should allow tyre warmers on the fronts only and award points for oversteer angle in the first out lap after the pit stop!

    .

  10. I do not think tyre warmers will not be missed a lot when F1 goes back to proper slicks, as they are quicker to warm up and hold their temperature better.

This and the re intrduction of slicks is something that, I think the FIA has got right.

Indy cars have always coped without tyre warmers.

  11. Tyre warmers should be banned in order to have a more realistic racing.

Before leaving your garage, are u heating your tyre???

Tyre warming is an stupid rule!

  12. It will make the pitstops more exciting as drivers exiting will try to hold their position on cold tires.

Also, drivers stopping earlier will have a big disadvantage.

If you stop a couple of laps later there's a lot of time to be gained, time you will loose when you make your pitstop but it matters little if you can come out in front and hold your position.

Together with the banning of traction control it will make watching the race that much more interesting.

Yes it's more dangerous, everything that increases the likelyhood of a car going off the black stuff adds to the danger but danger is part of motor sport, how much danger is acceptable is the question.

I don't think the element of danger here is unacceptable, the drivers whine a lot because it will make their life more difficult.

No one likes uncertainty, when in a good position to win or get some points a driver likes to feel nothing can spoil the party, well, uncertainty is a part of life and drivers will just have to cope.
