It says I need oil to make it, I take it they were talking about Vegetable oil but all I have is corn oil and olive oil, would one of these work or will it ruin it?

  1. Do you have butter and heavy cream? Use them instead

    6 tablespoons Butter

    1/2 cup Brown sugar

    3 large eggs

    1 tsp. Vanilla

    1 1/2 cups Bananas, mashed

1 3/4 cups All purpose flour

    1 tsp. Baking soda

    1/2 cup Heavy cream

    1/3 cup Chopped walnuts

    Preparation

cream all wet ingredients together in mixing bowl, cream well, mix all dry ingredients in another bowl and add to wet ingedients, mix well, stir in walnuts. Pour batte rinto prepared loaf pan. Bake @ 350 degrees for about 1 hour 15 minutes. Cool bread in pan for 10 minutes. Remove Bread from pan and cool completely on wire rack. Slice and serve with butter and jam

  2. I agree with Brianne.  Olive oil has a stronger taste than corn oil, so use the corn oil.  Having said that, bananas also have a strong taste, so if you only had one type of oil you could use whatever you have in the house rather than going out to the store.

  3. applesauce is better then either oil, for a fun alternative.

  4. dont use olive oil!!!  its too strong, but you'll be perfectly fine using the corn oil.  it wont change the flavor and it will work the same as vegetable oil.  good luck!!!!!

  5. Last time I made Banana bread (one week ago) no oil was used in the recipe.  I did use a small amount of shortening to coat the pan but no oil in the mix.

Though I did put in small caramel bits into the batter and it came out like a banana foster bread.  Darn good.

  6. Never bake with olive oil!  Use corn oil which is better for you & contains less fat. My recipes have never called for oil but since yours does, use corn oil.

  7. The oil in your recipe adds richness to the bread and improves the texture.  Corn oil's fine.  Bon Apetite!

  8. Corn is actually a vegetable so it will work just fine.  Under no circumstances use the olive oil.  It will change the flavor and you won't like your banana bread.
