The 2011/2012 Ligue 1 campaign has been testing time for FC Sochaux Montbeliard. Despite the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Modibo-Maiga-c26167 in their ranks, Les Lionceaux are rock bottom in the Ligue 1 standings and could be featuring in Ligue 2
next season if they don’t start winning games.
This January, Les Lionceaux signed young http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cameroon-c2865 centre-back, Banana Yaya. Banana arrives from Esperance and his task would be to make sure that his new sides goes up in the Ligue 1 rankings.
Taking Banana from the African giants was a choice many supporters did not like as many feel that the club should be signing experienced players.
With no experience of playing in Europe, Banana’s skills will be tested to the limit. However, the 6ft 3 inch tall defender is not worried about it and is keen on doing well for his new side.
The youngster says that he is a calm and disciplined player and will use these attributes as his strength.
Banana lifted the African Champions League twice with Esperance of Tunis and knows the importance of consistency in order to be at the top. However, Ligue 1 would be an altogether different experience and the youngster will need to adjust to his new surroundings
as quickly as possible.
The youngster believes that he felt welcome at the club and has started getting to know his teammates which will help him adjust.
Knowing that his club is in a lot of trouble, Banana knows that his teammates should keep working hard and hope for results going their way in order to see some light at the end of the tunnel.
The Cameroon international is also keen on emulating the performances of fellow countryman Nicolas N’Koulou who has made a great start to life at Olympique de Marseille.
“Yes indeed, I want to follow his footsteps and it would be a dream. He is a defender that everyone respects including me.”
