Banana plant... What kind of plant?

What kind of plant is a banana crop? My teacher said its not a tree. So all that's left is Shrub, Grass, Vine or Herb. My teacher says its depending on its structure. Trees should have woody trunks but the banana "tree" only have a soft trunk. So what do you think? I think its a grass.

A banana plant is actually, despite common conception not a tree of a grass. It is a virus. The deadliest virus known to man.
