Band directors: Do you have unconditional love for your students?

Question

you know like parental love toward students? My band director doesn't have any kids yet but anyway he loves us like we are his own kids. He always takes care of us and he buys us donuts after concerts. I think band directors have a relationship with the students that no other teacher has. Its a very special thing because Band really is a family.

band really is like a family...but i don't think my band director really liked us all that much. he always terrorized and yelled at us, and played favorites. he kinda ruined my band experience actually

Not all teachers of ANY subject are alike.

It's like a coach - coaches can seem closer to their players.  It's because the team (and the band) work together and either succeed together or fail together, like a family, but unlike say a math class.
