I have been playing guitar for about a year now and not to to be conceited, but Id say I'm pretty good. Anyway my friend started to play guitar and hes good, but not as good as me. I want to form a band with a few other friends and me and him would play guitar and switch off on lead. The problem is every time I want to talk to him about guitar songs, he acts kinda stuck up and its like he thinks we are in competition even though I just wanna have fun and play music, but I try. So what should I do to get him to jam with me.???

Thanx!!!

P.S. I don't want to play Rhythm guitar cause I love to solo.

  1. You both need to grow the F up and stop biching. Dividing guitar playing into Rhythmn and Lead roles is dumb and quite conceited if you ask me. If you can only do one and not the other there is no point to making music. Being one dimensional is not the goal of a serious musician you need to expand your horizons so to speak. 1 year of guitar playing is nothing I hate to break it too you but the truth is... you suck. Neither of you probably have enough skill to really make the music worthwhile. You need to grow your skills seperately and once you have grown considerably then you can start thinking about a band. You honestly don't sound mature enough to take on this task. The kid sees it as a competition because whether you secretly realize it or not you are the one that has turned it into that competition. You both know that you're better at the guitar and you let him know it and he resents you for it. In order to keep your friendship he keeps to non combative answers like i don't know etc. Put your high horse back in the stable and learn to play the guitar without having an ego trip over it.
