Los Che midfielder, Ever Banega, insists that he never thought of leaving football after an incident involving his car left him with a fractured ankle, broken tibia and fibula.
The Argentine international admitted that it was a bad time for him, but the idea of retirement from football never crossed his mind.
“The truth is I was not thinking whether or not to quit football,” he admitted.
He also talked about his ordeal and how it was challenging for him but believes that it is the support shown by the people in the club and the coaching staff that gave him the strength and willpower he needed to recover from his long-term injury.
“It was a bad time for me, but I was given a lot of strength by the people who stood by me and the coaching staff that helped with my recovery.”
Meanwhile, his team, Valencia, are struggling at the moment and have not had the best of starts in the Spanish League this season.
They have managed to win only two matches out of the opening seven and this run of poor performances is putting a lot of pressure on Los Che coach, Pellegrino.
What is worse is that their rivals have started the season in an impressive way and at the moment they are way ahead of Valencia, who are languishing on the fourteenth position in the table with their chance of qualifying for the Champions League next year
being severely dented.
The 24-year-old is aware of this fact and admits that the results have not been the way expected, regardless, he believes that the season has just started and that there is a long way to go.
“The season is long. Maybe the results are not what was expected, but we have to be calm. We are going to move forward,” he said.
Finally, Banega is standing shoulder to shoulder with his teammate, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Parejo, who recently faced criticism from the fans.
“I've been through Dani's situation. You have to reverse it, demonstrating your quality on the pitch,“he concluded.
