  1. Banfield sucks.

I have a friend that is a CVT, her first hospital was banfield, and she HATED it

I am currently attending school to be a CVT, and would never go to banfield.

Even most employees there admit it sucks. My moms neighbor is a CVT at a banfield, she admitted that to me.

My bf took our husky there because he is SEVERELY underweight (the only reason he takes the husky there is because he is a petsmart manager and gets free vet visits). When weighed 2 months ago at our house, he was 67 lbs. When we took him in last week, he was only 57.3 lbs. Banfield said that was fine, because when he was in last he was 57.8 lbs. Last time he was in, he was 6 months old! He is now over a year old! They told us a year old dog that is half a pound lighter then he was at 6 months is perfectly healthy.

Then they told us to switch his food off of blue buffalo and go to science diet because it is a much better food. Blue buffalo is one of the best on the market, and science diet is a pretty c**p food. Not the worst out there, but still no where near blue buffalo

  2. I work at Petsmart, and Banfield is the vet that our animals go to much of the time.

My co-workers and I have begun referring to them as "the fast food of vets." They don't put much effort in, and charge too much. We've begun pressuring our managers to allow us to bring sick animals to outside vets.

That is not a good vet to work at, I agree with what the others have said.

  3. banfield is a horrible vet, that charges too much, and does things that dont need to be done for simple problems.

I wouldnt go there for training, find another vet, more local owned.

    you will learn alot more.

  4. I haven't, a friend of mine has though. Are you going to be trained as a veterinary technician? My friend said it was a bad experience.( She already had 3 years' experience as a veterinary technician elsewhere. ) She worked long hours for not much money. They wanted her to sell things to clients the client didn't need, some clients would leave with their sick pet because they couldn't afford the overpriced treatment ( overpriced with a lot of things not needed .) Banfield's goal: get as much $$ as you can from clients even if their pet doesn't need all these things we tell them they do.  She ended up working for an independantly owned animal hospital and is happy.

  5. They are not that great. Vets inside pet stores usually are not.
