Bangalore - Can a couple live comfortably of Rs 15,000 per month?

Will Rs15,000 see a couple through with a reasonable life style including rentals, food etc in a fairly good suburb in Bangalore. If so, what would an apr. budget be.

Well that would depend on the kind of rental you are paying for the location.

If the rental is 5Km the food expenses for 2 people would be around 3-4k bills of electricity, 500-1k, water, Telephone, internet1k, plus traveling expense from work to home and to go to shopping and other things.

Would be tight.

Me and my Wife had a decent life in Bangalore during the year 2002 with 15000 per month.

Just an idea of your budget

5000 to 6000 - Rent

You will find a decent single bedroom house. (But not in Proper Koramagala or BTM or Indiranagar). But definitely you will get in some decent area

1000 to 1500 - groceries

500 to 1000 Utility bills (EB, Water, Cable, Phone)

1000 to 1500 for Petrol  

The other expenditures such as eating out and movie depends on you. (How many times you eat and where you eat, how many movies you go and in which theatre you watch the movie)

major cost in bangalore is rent. you can get residence from 2k to 100k per month. your other exps may be around 5-10 k depends on living style

so you can assume that 15k is sufficient if rent is reasonable.
