Bangladesh Cricket Board bars World Cup players from public writing - ICC World Cup 2011 news
Bangladesh Cricket Board has banned members of its current ICC World Cup 2011 squad to refrain from writing in any newspaper or magazine.
This step from the BCB came after Bangladesh captain Shakib Al-Hasan wrote a controversial editorial in a popular Dhaka-based newspaper recently in which he criticised the former players for slating his team for their poor performance against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
The Bengali Tigers were bundled out for 58 in that match- their lowest-ever total in One Day International cricket.
The Bengali captain had said, “I feel really bad when I see former cricketers talk like common fans, I don’t like to demean anyone. But you can see in the record books who did what.”
The BCB chief executive Manzur Ahmed said that the cricketers should not act as journalists or writers. He said that they were sportsmen and should concentrate on their game instead of giving critical remarks on one another.
Manzur said, “We have asked the team management to stop players from writing columns,” Ahmed told the media. “We are preparing media guidelines for the players and will see if they can write after the World Cup.”
On the other hand, former Bangladesh captain Raqibul Hassan has reportedly said that he was not convinced with Shakib’s statement. He said that the remarks made by Shakib about former players were disrespectful. He also highlighted that Shakib did not know
the history of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 cricket and should have refrained from making such a statement.
Bangladesh play a must-win match against England on Friday, 11 http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391, 2011 at Chittagong. So far, they only have two points from three games and would have to win their remaining fixtures if they are to give themselves a fair chance of qualifying for the
