Bangladesh Cricket Board warns government of foreign bookies
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has warned its government of the possibility of foreign bookies arriving in the country for the purpose of fixing matches during the ongoing ICC World Cup 2011.
According to the details, the BCB sent a list of 25 international bookies to the Home Ministry of Bangladesh in a bid to make sure that the government takes appropriate steps to bar their entry in the country. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 is co-hosting this year’s World Cup

Dr. Kamal Uddin Ahmed, the Joint Secretary of the Home Ministry said, “The home ministry has asked the immigration authority to examine the travel documents of all foreigners to find out whether any bookie has arrived.”
He however, clarified that the immigration department was not sure about the arrival of any potential bookmaker in the country at the moment. He insisted that the concerned authorities are being kept on alert to foil any attempts by foreign bookies to enter
the country.
Dr. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamal-c70069 reiterated that necessary steps have been taken to ensure that the bookmakers cannot get in contact with the players and management of the cricket teams currently in Bangladesh to play their group matches of the mega event.
The State Minister for Home Affairs, Shamsul Haque Tuku confirmed that the BCB indeed sent information about the bookies to the Home Ministry. He said, “BCB has sent passport numbers and some other particulars of the bookies to the ministry.”
According to sources within the Home Ministry, it has been confirmed that all the bookies in the list are foreign nationals. It has also been revealed that the list was initially sent by the International Cricket Council to the BCB.
The ICC has already vowed to keep World Cup 2011 free from any sort of foul play and the cricket’s governing body is focussing a lot on keeping the Cup a corruption-free affair.
