Bangladesh Premier League: Shakib Al Hasan bags player of the tournament award – Cricket News Update

Apart from Shakib, other nominees included Pakistani born cricketers Azhar Mahmood and Ahmed Shehzad. However, it was the Bangladeshi cricketer who walked away with the coveted award and the Black Honda car.
Shakib had a marvellous tournament with bat and the ball. The all-rounder racked up 280 runs from eleven matches at an average of 40, while maintaining a healthy strike rate of 140. He also picked up 15 wickets at 19.93 apiece while conceding 7.11 runs per
over.
Shakib was disappointed that his side could not make it to the finals of the inaugural BPL. The 24-year-old was thrilled with the atmosphere in the final and hoped that the crowd comes out to support the national team in similar fashion.

http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Mahmood-c1116 were not left empty handed. Mahmood, who plays for the BPL champions the Dhaka Gladiators, was declared the most valuable foreign player. The veteran cricketer scored 298 runs and also notched 9 wickets.
Mahmood was content with his performance in the tournament. The aging cricketer said that it was tough playing back to back matches. He thanked his team mates for being there when he needed them and also the crowd for showing up in great numbers.
He said, “Quite pleased with the performance. Thanks to the crowd who have supported us. It has been a great journey, a bit tough as we played 12 games in 17 days. The body is aching a bit, but it is ok. Thanks to my team-mates who have helped me a lot throughout
the tournament.”
Shehzad, who represents the runners-up Barisal Burners, was declared the batsman of the tournament for piling 486 runs at average of 48.60. The right-hander dedicated his award to his mother and hopes to be back for the next edition of the BPL.
