Bangladesh Squares the series 1-1
The 2nd and last ODI between Bangladesh and Ireland was played, at Civil Service Cricket Club Stormont, Belfast, Ireland, today where Bangladesh won the match to equalize the series 1-1. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bengal-c771 Tigers were in Ireland to play two ODI match series. Ireland won the first match by 7 wickets yesterday.
The weather conditions were not perfect for the start of play, due to heavy rainfall last night the match started late. The umpires decided to reduce the match to 49 overs. The Irish captain William Porterfield won the toss and elected to bat first in the overcastted conditions. Ireland fielded the same side that played against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hasan-c61990’s ball at short third man position. Next to go were Johnston and Mooney and Ireland was able to put a score of 189 in allocated 46 overs. Shafiul Islam was the star of Bangladesh bowling attack who took 4 wickets for his side. He conceded 59 runs in his allocated overs. Shakib Al Hassan took 2 wickets with an economy of 2.33 runs per over.
Bangladesh in their chase of 189 runs were to score with a required run rate of 4.1 runs per over. The Asian side were slow in the beginning and lost their first wicket when Imrul Kayes (5 of 13) was caught in second slip by Stirling on Johnston’s ball in 6th over of the match when team score was just 10 runs. With the fall of Kayes wicket Bengalis started playing some shots but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tamim-Iqbal-c2640 added another 84 runs to the total and placed visitors on driving seat. Jahurul Islam was caught by Johnston at short third man when he was trying to pull White’s ball. Shakib (33 of 38) and Tamim (74 of 91) added 48 runs in the total. Bangladesh easily won this match in 38th over by 6 wickets with 50 balls to spare. Shafiul Islam was declared Man of the match for his four wickets and a catch.
The Bangladeshi side was able to square the series 1-1 with Ireland. They Bengali Tigers are very unpredictable how they play on a given day; they can easily beat teams like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and England and on a very next day they are beaten by the team who are very new in the arena of International Cricket. Bangladesh has the next the status of test playing nation and reasonably good domestic level roots in the country but they somehow don’t reflect this on international level. To stop being treated like minnows they should concentrate and develop a winning combination. One very important thing is to continue the good form after beating good teams.
