Bangladesh Tour of England, Tour Match: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Middlesex-c817 by 141 Runs

Bangladesh played their first tour match in England before their series with the hosts; Bangladesh won their side match comfortably as they beat Middlesex by 141 runs.

The visitors, batting first, displayed a consistent batting performance and piled up a massive score of 301 runs from 50 overs, while Middlesex could only manage 160 in reply.

Bangladesh’s new captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mashrafe-Mortaza-c1917 won the toss and chose to bat first. The Lord’s pitch was quite dry and apart from the use of slope, there was not much in the air for the bowlers to make use of.

Bangladesh opened the innings with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robbie-Williams-c2342 as he went for a cover drive. Iqbal scored 28 runs from 20 balls with 6 boundaries.

Next in was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Danny-Evans-c1316.

http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jahurul-Islam-c1624 then joined Kayes in the centre, and the pair started to put together a solid partnership. There were plenty of orthodox strokes on display from both batsmen. Kayes was the more adventurous of the two and made good use of the field restrictions, going over the top a number of times. Kayes hit 2 sixes over cover while the field was still in.

The pair put on 143 runs for the 3rd wicket. The partnership was broken when Kayes was caught by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tom-Smith-c2704 off the bowling of Roland-Jones, after scoring 77 solid runs from 92 balls. He hit 4 boundaries and 3 sixes in his innings.

The former Bangladesh Captain, Shakib Al http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hasan-c61990, was in next at number 5. The left hander is considered to be one of the better all rounders in world cricket, and he did not disappoint. Shakib and Jahurul Islam put on 29 runs for the 4th wicket.

Jahurul was finally dismissed after scoring 88 runs from 93 balls. His innings was full of delightful cover drives and flicks off his hips - the typical sub-continental strokes - and he hit 9 boundaries.

Later, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushfiqur-Rahim-c2045 and Shakib added important runs at the end of the innings, taking the score to 301 in 50 overs.

Shakib was dismissed after scoring 38 runs from 32 balls; he was caught by Owais Shah on the bowling of Danny Evans, while Mushfiqur was caught by Josh Davey (also on the bowling of Evans) after scoring 25 from 24 balls with 2 fours. Evans was the most successful bowler for the county side, claiming 3 wickets for 51 runs.

302 is by no means a small target, but Middlesex would have fancied it considering that the pitch was quite flat. However, the start was not heartening at all; they lost their first wicket with not even a single run on the board.

Mortaza ripped through the defences of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Simpson-c1722 on the final ball of the first over. 3 overs later, with 12 on the board, Jackson Thompson was caught by Tamim Iqbal on the bowling of Shafiul Islam; Thompson scored just 8 runs from 11 balls with 2 boundaries.

Owais Shah and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dawid-Malan-c1344 put together a decent stand for the 3rd wicket and put on 87 runs in almost 16 overs. Malan was run out after making 32 runs from 49 balls. And Shah followed soon after, scoring 61 runs from 72 balls with 7 boundaries. That ended any hope Middlesex had of getting to the stiff target. The whole team was eventually bundled out for just 160 in the 40th over. Shafiul Islam was the best bowler for Bangladesh claiming 3 wickets for just 31 runs, as Bangladesh won convincingly by 141 runs.
