Bangladesh Under-19s v England Under-19s – Youth ODI – 6th Match Update
England 206 v Bangladesh 211 - Bangladesh Under-19s won by 6 wickets (with 43 balls remaining)
On Tuesday, January 31, 2012 Bangladesh Under-19s took a lead by 4-2 in the seven-match Youth One Day International (ODI) tournament after winning the sixth fixture of the series against England by six wickets at Sylhet Stadium.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to give their bowlers a chance to rattle England as they wanted the Poms to be dismissed on a meagre total.
However, English openers Daniel Bell-Drummond and Sam Kelsall wrecked Bangladesh’s plans as they gave their side an outstanding chance by launching an early batting onslaught against the hosts.
The two openers exhibited tremendous form as they hammered the bowlers all around the park without remorse – posing a serious threat to Bangladesh’s chances in the match.
With 72 runs on the board, England lost their first wicket when Kelsall was dismissed after playing a nifty knock of 31 runs.
Bangladesh bounced right back in the match when they grabbed the prized wicket of Bell-Drummond, who was dismissed after playing an astounding innings of 51 runs. At the time of this wicket, England had managed to amass 92 runs on the board.
With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, openers back in the pavilion signs of cracks in the middle-order batting line-up appeared once again as wickets crumbled at regular intervals, with batsmen throwing away their wickets without giving a potent performance.
Instead of capitalizing on the perfect start by the openers, the middle-order batsmen failed to play big knocks, which ultimately helped the hosts crawl back in a dominating position.
Rammy Singh scored 28 runs, while skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Ball-c41883 remained unbeaten on 25 runs alongside Brett Hutton, who hammered 26 runs as the side managed to post 206 runs in 50 overs for the loss of eight wickets.
From Bangladesh, left-arm spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nasum-Ahmed-c78778 was the highest wicket taker with four English scalps in his bag.
Coming out to bat, Bangladesh had an easy target to chase; however, they failed to get off to a perfect start as they lost their first wicket with only 31 runs on the board.
Nonetheless, due to some fantastic cricket from Soumya Sarkar (86) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Mosaddek-Hossain-c77094 (51), the hosts successfully chased the required target in 42.5 overs for the loss of only four wickets.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 opener, Sarkar, was named as the Player of the Match for an outstanding batting performance.
