Aided by intense bowling performances from Abu Jayed and Nasum Ahmed, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756 by a margin of 7 wickets during their ICC Under-19 World Cup warm-up match today on August 7, played at the University
No 2 Oval in Brisbane.
The Bangladesh U-19s won the toss, and skipper Anamul Haque elected to field first, with Scotland sending Andrew Umeed (2) and wicketkeeper batsman Mathew Cross (6) out to open their innings.
The pair got their side off to a poor start, with the Bangladeshi bowlers launching their assault at once. Abu Jayed (who finished with figures of 7-1-21-3) scythed through Scotland’s top order – Umeed was bowled in the second over, Cross followed in the
4th over (caught out by wicketkeeper captain Anamul Haque) while Tom McBride (6) was dismissed in the 12th over.
By this time, things were looking grim for Scotland, who were at 23 for 3. The team obtained some short-term relief in the form of a 4th wicket partnership between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Frederick-RJ-Coleman-c57922 (21) which
appeared to be going strong but was cut off at 44 runs – Coleman was sent packing by Soumya Sarkar, while Nasum Ahmed (6.5-0-21-4) claimed McLean for his first scalp of the day.
The remainder of the batting order were unable to rack up any substantial scores, and provided easy pickings for the Bangladesh bowlers.
Peter Ross (4) and Nicholas Farrar (5) proved easy targets for Taskin Ahmed and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Henry-Richard-Edwards-c62725 (6) and Sam
Page (2) back to the pavilion in the 38th over.
Scotland finished, all out, at 106, a target which the Bangladesh U-19s managed to chase comfortably, at the expense of a mere 3 wickets.
Soumya Sarkar (0) and Liton Das (15) remained unimpressive as openers, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asif-Ahmed-c46454  (16*)
enabling the Bangladesh U-19s to reach 107 by the 21st over, with 179 deliveries still remaining.
