Bangladesh VS Pakistan-http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 tour to Pakistan-Breaking News
The head of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, has announced that he is satisfied with the security arrangements made by Pakistan, for the upcoming series between Pakistan and Bangladesh next month. The announcement came at the time when the Pakistani Government
and cricket officials have been trying relentlessly to revive international cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. This augurs well for the cricket fans that have not seen action on Pakistani soil for the last couple of years.
International cricket had been banned in Pakistan after the unfortunate incident of March 3, 2009, when armed gunmen attacked the convoy of the visiting Sri Lankan team in Lahore, killing several policemen and injuring seven players of the Sri Lankan squad,
including their assistant coach. Since then, Pakistan has paid heavily for its lack of proper security cover to a visiting cricketing team.
While International matches were banned in Pakistan, the national team was forced to play its home series on neutral venues like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749. To add further insult to injury, the country was denied hosting the 2011 World
Cup played in the Subcontinent.
While the International Cricket Council has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board officials to ensure fool proof security, to help revive cricket in Pakistan, the decision by the Bangladesh Cricket Board to acquiesce to Pakistan’s offer for a tour is seen as
a big development. This may result in the revival of international cricket in Pakistan.
The decision is also an antithesis to the recently aired views by the Chief Executive of the Federation of International Cricketers Association (FICA) that Pakistan is still far from safe to tour. He also stated that he strongly favours the revival of international
cricket in Pakistan but the security arrangements are dissatisfactory at the moment, and they need to improve further.
Despite the varying opinions, the news has created excitement amongst fans. Pakistan, is gearing itself up to watch cricket in their own country, but only two grounds will be hosting the match for the Bangladesh series. It is definitely a step in the right
direction.
