Bangladesh agreed to tour Pakistan- Cricket News Update
After weeks of negotiations, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 for one ODI and Twenty20 international, with both matches scheduled to take place at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on the 29th and 30th April, 2012, respectively.
The latest development occurred during the recent annual meeting of the International Cricket Council at Dubai, where the chiefs of Pakistan Cricket Board and Bangladesh Cricket Board had a detailed discussion before announcing the final decision.
“I am pleased to confirm the tour in which Bangladesh will play a one-day match on April 29 and a Twenty20 game the next day, both in Lahore,” BCB president http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mustafa-Kamal-c78122 said in a press release.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamal-c70069, who was overwhelmed by the reception he received during his visit to Pakistan last month, has expressed earnest concern for their cricket deprived neighbours and extended his full support in regards to the resumption of International.
“The public of Pakistan have been deprived of cricket and we felt that we needed to support them," BCB president Mustafa Kamal said.
The tour however, became possible after the continuous efforts of PCB chief, Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397, who remained optimistic regarding the proposed series, despite the whole saga being stretched out for far too long.
“I am extremely pleased that Bangladesh has confirmed the tour. Obviously this is very important for us and we will leave no stone unturned to ensure that this tour takes place in a befitting manner,” said Ashraf.
The series will be the first in Pakistan, following the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009. It further led http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 to deny the Men in Green from hosting their home matches – deeming it as a unsafe venue.
There were no significant efforts being made during the regime of previous PCB chief http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 in this regard. However, the board, under the guidance of Ashraf took several steps to restore international cricket in the country, the likes of which include
a British Universities tour, the proposed Pakistan Premier League initiative, along with the now confirmed Bangladesh tour.
The newly approved “special dispensation” policy of the ICC in “exceptional circumstance” is now seen as a back plan, with the highest governing body ready to send its own match officials, provided they are satisfied with the security plans presented by
the Pakistani government.
